My Story

Why I Built
HOLtutor

In school, we are taught many subjects — but not how to correctly study for them. This is left to us to figure out on our own. And this is exactly what causes most students to struggle with revision, because studying and making notes is a vital academic skill that needs to be learnt properly.

The good news is that within the last decade, research in learning science has discovered that the easier and faster way to study is through Higher Order Learning. I discovered this methodology through my own experience teaching students in Dubai — and I saw the transformation it produced firsthand.

I built HOLtutor.com because I wanted to make this knowledge accessible to every student who is working hard but not getting the results they deserve. The HOL Mind Map method is not a secret — it is simply a better way of thinking about and engaging with the material you are learning.

I would love to teach you how to use HOL when you revise for your exams — so that revision becomes easier and faster, and you can perform better as a result. Helping you become an independent, successful learner for life.

Hi, my name is Khurram and I am from Pakistan and currently live in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, where I teach Science and Maths secondary school students how to make faster and easier notes when revising for their exams using advanced higher order learning based mind maps instead of lower order learning based hand written notes.

Background & Skills

I speak English well and hold a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham in the UK, which gives me a strong knowledge foundation in sciences like Physics, Chemistry as well as Maths in order to be able to teach how to successfully study for them.

In my lessons, you can expect a novel approach that helps you to understand conceptual — theoretical — information quickly and easily in subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Maths from a big picture point of view. You get a full understanding of how all the concepts and key terms are grouped and connected together and what is their relative effect and impact on each other. This way I help my students remember what they learn for their exams more easily and quickly.
